This is one half of a double project of two adjacent properties in a conservation area in Mile End, East London. Two neighbours have teamed up to improve their family homes with additional bedrooms, new bathrooms, dramatic skylights and modern finishes.

This part of the project consists of a first floor extension. It is deliberately conservative from the outside in order to meet local Planning requirements. However, the inside reveals a contemporary bedroom which is three-dimensionally wrapped in pine and sits under a dramatic skylight. In addition to that we have inserted a small shower room. Here tinted mirrors and acid etched glass have been utilized to visually enlarge the space. This sleekness has been offset with a ribbon of a natural, random stone mosaic which also enhances the natural experience of a large rain maker shower.
