The Ethereal House

We proudly present ‘The Ethereal House’, a mountain lake house in Austria. It’s highly reflective façade mitigates solar gain whilst dissolving the volume into the landscape. The completely reflective exterior, incorporating mirrored windows, also grants its inhabitants the ultimate privacy. Due to its fabulous location, this lake house boasts spectacular views on all sides.

As so often with our projects, we aim to juxtapose raw natural materials with something that is undoubtedly man made such as polished or reflective surfaces. Internally, split-face stone and raw sawn wood surfaces add to the haptic experience. All materials used have been inspired by the stunning Austrian landscape that surrounds it.
